Where your backups actually go

Cloud backup connects to your own Google account and writes to Google Drive's appdata folder — a hidden, app-only space that doesn't show up in your normal Drive file list and that other apps can't read. Because this scope is one of Google's "non-sensitive" permission tiers, connecting doesn't require the extension to go through Google's sensitive-scope security review, and you're never asked to hand over broader access to your Drive than this one hidden folder.

Same format as local backup

A cloud backup is the same JSON format used by Local Backup & Restore, covering whichever of the ten data modules you've selected. Restoring one uses the exact same merge logic as a local import — it adds to what you have rather than replacing it.

Setting up automatic backups

• Interval — every 1–168 hours, or every 1–30 days.
• Retention — keep between 1 and 20 backups; once you're at the limit, the oldest is pruned as a new one is created.
• Include/exclude history — a toggle to leave your visit history out of cloud backups specifically, if you'd rather it stayed local-only even while everything else syncs.

A "Back up now" button runs one immediately, outside the schedule. The backup list shows every cloud backup with its own Restore and Delete actions, and if your Google authorization expires or is revoked, a reconnect flow walks you through re-authorizing without losing the schedule you'd already configured.
