Getting Started
Install the extension, open the sidebar, and take the first few actions that matter.
Install and open the sidebar
X-Power Plus runs as a Chrome side panel — it lives in a dockable panel alongside the page you're viewing, not in a popup that closes the moment you click away.
- Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store, then pin it to the toolbar so the icon is always visible.
- Click the toolbar icon to open the side panel. It docks to the side of the current window and stays open as you switch tabs.
- Open Settings when you need it. There's no button for this inside the side panel — right-click the toolbar icon and choose Options, or go to
chrome://extensions→ X-Power Plus → Details → Extension options. Full reference: Settings, Shortcuts & Context Menus. - Choose your interface language in Settings → Settings → Interface Language if it didn't already match your browser's language. The switch applies immediately, no reload needed beyond the settings page itself.
Tour the two root tabs
Tab Manager
Three sub-tabs: Current Tabs (every open tab across every window, with view modes, grouping and search), Activity (History and Snapshots), and My Space (saved URL collections for one-click launch). The Efficiency Dashboard — your screen-time stats — is reached from within Tab Manager as well.
Bookmarks
Three sub-tabs: Bookmarks itself (your tree, with Flat/Tree/Navigation/Privacy views), Activity (visit counts per bookmark), and Statistics (totals, tag cloud, visit distribution).
Five things worth trying in your first five minutes
- Type
:helpinto any search box. Every search box in the extension — Current Tabs, Bookmarks, History — understands a small query syntax. Typing:helpshows the exact cheat sheet for that box. Full reference: Bookmark Search Syntax. - Press Alt+Shift+D to quick-bookmark the page you're on, straight into a dedicated folder — no dialog to click through.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S (Cmd+Shift+S on Mac) to save a snapshot of every window and tab you currently have open. See Tab Snapshots & Visit History.
- Open Current Tabs and switch to Domain view if you tend to accumulate dozens of tabs — it groups everything by site so you can see what's actually taking up space.
- Open Settings → Backup & Restore and take one local export now, before you need it. It's a single JSON file covering as much or as little of your data as you choose.
Set up backup before you rely on the extension
X-Power Plus keeps its own data — history archive, snapshots, spaces, tags, auto-tag rules — entirely on your device, separate from Chrome's own bookmark/history storage. That's what makes the extra features possible (a history archive longer than 90 days, for instance) but it also means that data only exists on this one browser profile until you back it up.
- For a one-time safety net: Local Backup & Restore — export to a file, keep it anywhere you like.
- For "set it and forget it": Google Drive Cloud Backup — scheduled automatic backups to your own Drive (Pro feature).
